The Central Academy for State Forest Service (CASFOS) is located in the beautiful and sylvan campus of the world-renowned New Forest Campus in Dehradun. The vibrant capital city of Uttarakhand state, Dehradun has been the cradle of forestry education and training in India. CASFOS has the privilege of being in the neighbourhood of other premier institutions like Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA), Indian Council for Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Forest Research Institute (FRI) and FRI University which enhance the learning environment for the Officer Trainees with increased opportunities for interaction with serving IFS officers, IFS probationers from IGNFA, Scientists and researchers from ICFRE & FRI. The building which houses the Academy is historic, with a unique status of being the prototype and a forerunner for the main FRI building. Constructed from slim bricks and lime mortar, it is a fine example of British architecture and is about hundred years old.
